For the CP Communications’ teams in Elmsford and Wappingers Falls, NY, the concept of “down time” is a foreign one. Coming off the 2014 New York City Marathon — an already daunting show made more so by infrastructure challenges — CP might have enjoyed a few minutes’ respite. Instead, the company won the new golf contracts from Fox Sports and Golf Channel, which called for construction of six RF trucks — in six months.

Enhanced Security Boots RF to New Band Behind the scenes, CP Communications returns with a completely revamped infrastructure, necessitated in part by the increased security that has blanketed marathons since last year’s Boston bombing. Previously, CP Communications operated its RF video, audio, and communications within the 2.2-2.4 GHz band. A veteran of ESPN’s Little League World Series coverage for more than 10 years, CP Communications was back in Williamsport, PA this month with a groundbreaking new system in tow. The new Axis RFHD camera-back-transmitter system featured three RF-over-fiber sites for ESPN’s LLWS coverage. The newest system is a MPEG4 7-Gbps system with a six-way maximum ratio, powered by COBHAM technologies and custom made by Wave Central.

CP Communications has rolled out HD1, a new remote production truck that is designed for smaller RF shows that require up to eight RF cameras.
