27 Years on the Biggest Stage: CP Communications at Super Bowl LX

The Technology, Team, and Trust Behind the Broadcast

or 27 years, CP Communications has supported the Super Bowl; bringing experience and reliability to the world’s biggest broadcast stage. At Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, CP Communications once again delivered at the highest level.

Following nearly two weeks of setup and live productions across the region, Super Bowl Sunday finally arrived on February 8, and CP Communications was out in force. Across multiple shows and celebrations, the team delivered wireless audio, wireless video, wireless communications, fiber optics, and frequency coordination to support productions from setup through kickoff.

“My first Super Bowl was in 1998, working communications for the Entertainment and Halftime Show. While considered a large deployment then, it’s a mere shell of what it is today,” says Michael Mason, President of CP Communications. “Super Bowls have grown tremendously over the years, and the need for communications has expanded exponentially. There is a great dependence on wireless technologies to support all of the moving components.”

At Red House Streaming & RHStv, we are proud to share that none of what we do would be possible without the expertise, infrastructure, and support of our parent company, CP Communications.

Supporting NBC’s Super Bowl LX Broadcast

CP Communications proudly provided communications support for NBC’s Super Bowl LX broadcast, which aired on NBC and Peacock.

Deployment included:

  • A dedicated crew of eight
  • CP Communications HD21 mobile unit (XXLarge CBRS communications kit)
  • CP’s Private Wireless Network (PWN), utilizing Verizon Wireless technology and Nokia hardware
  • Nine radio sites deployed across the entire Levi’s Stadium campus, service corridors, locker room areas, TV compound, and exterior set locations
  • 80 communication channels via RTS ADAM trunks connecting NBC Sports mobile units in Santa Clara and NBC Sports in Stamford, CT
  • 64 Dante and 16 analog interfaces into CP’s Green-Go digital intercom infrastructure
  • 125 belt packs in use, with additional capacity and headroom available

In addition to communications support, CP Communications served as NBC’s overall frequency coordinator. Working closely with wireless vendors and the NFL’s frequency coordination team, CP Communications ensured a successful and interference-free Super Bowl for all wireless users.
